GEORGE WASHINGTON PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY

Mt. Vernon, VA

General Contractor: Whiting-Turner
Architect: MFM Design

The highest honor is to “make” history; this project was just that for Gaithersburg Architectural Millwork. In 2014 we teamed with Whiting-Turner to provide the millwork for George Washington’s Presidential Library at Mount Vernon.  The project consisted of over 2,500 blueprint match veneer panels, desks, and doors.  These items were built from quarter-sawn, highly figured American Sycamore, quarter-sawn Ash, and quarter-sawn Mahogany.  This created a dramatic, yet pragmatic backdrop, to showcase the architecture and sculptural principles of our founding fathers. The vision of MFM Design for the George Washington Presidential Library combines simple lines and classic architectural elements to encapsulate the feeling of stepping back in time. The Presidential Library was a once in a lifetime project that was recognized as the AWI’s Project of the Year and won both the WBC Craftsmanship Award and Star Award for Visual Excellence.

We were honored to be selected as the AWI’s Standard of Excellence Recipient and featured in the Design Solutions Magazine. Please follow this link to view the article.
